Faders: When You Left, did Anyone Give a Damn?
by shamus100 init seems funny to hear how some get love bombed, others get left alone when they fade.
i moved and told nobody - by the time they figured i was 'weak', it was too late - i was gone.
so honestly, what was it like for you when you left the 'organization'?

I know most of you will disagree with me, but this shows proves to me the case for NOT DAing or DFing, its best you play ball with them as much as possible and you don't let them win. Even go to meetings once every blue moon.

In Australia Petrol (thats what we call GASOLINE here) its about $1.65 a Liter, but I have a small 1.5 litre 4 Cyl Car, plus its being converteed to LGP, and LPG costs about .60c a liter, so I am doing OK.

No Girls Scout Cookies for you!
by independent_tre ineven though, i was raised in a witness home, i never remember hearing that girl scout cookies were a no-no.
and even though i've only been baptized for a few years, i don't remember any specific admonishment of these sweet treats.
but recently at work a jdub coworker made it a point to remind me that jw's do not buy or eat girl scout cookies.

Insane
by RR intemperatures in new jersey were in the high 90s today and tomorrow, in some places it was 100 degrees.. so schools were let out at midday, due to the heat.. one of my customers, who is self-employed is a new recruit to the jw's.
today when i arrived at his complex (i'm a letter carrier) there he was with his young boy (around 10 or so) leaving his townhome to go out in field service.
i thought to myself, "too hot for school, but not for knocking on doors"?

they go door to door in ANY weather, rain or shine, cold or Hot, they think it shows how zealous they are, but it only makes them look like idiots.

Has Shunning Caused Anyone to Miss Seeing a Parent Before Their Death?
by jamiebowers inreading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.

Thats really really sad... Thats one of the reasons why I don't believe in DAing yourself..why give the WTS the satisfaction

Ever have a paranormal event in your life, please share?
by free2beme ini am one who believes strongly in the spirit realm, paranormal activity, etc.
even with such a strong belief, i am often told by skeptics that such things are foolish and nonsense.
while i accept people have the right to feel however they want, i have often shared stories with people that are hard to explain with logic and find others have events like this too.

I beleive in paranormal things too, I've had things happen to me and others that you won't believe, such as a Friends daughter died in a car crash and then would ring him after she died and talk to him about where she was.... every time she would ring he would somehow know it was her ringing before he pickup the phone...other things too like seeing and talking to people who weren't really there, and teleporting, UFO's etc... but I won't mention them all because others just think your crazy, so its best you keep it to yourself.

Were Some Bodies of Elders Secret Societies unto Themselves ?
by flipper inwitnessing unjust treatment by elders and seeing others unjustly treated by such - had a big impact on me seeing through the facade that was the organization called jehovah's witnesses.
being raised in it 44 years i observed many times congregation elders operating their crew of " fellow elders " like a good old boys club in which although it was called a " body " of elders ; nevertheless still one elder dominated others and the lesser elders fell into line with what the " chief " or prime elder said would go down.
when leaving the organization in late 2003 - i questioned my own father, an elder for over 50 years about the unjust treatment i had received at the hand of such men.

Did you return to celebrating holidays?
by song19 inwith this new light, i am starting to try and figure out what to do with my life and my time... now that the world is opened up for me to finally explore.. i have been wondering if i will return to celebrating the holidays with my 'worldly' relatives.
my parents, brother, and in-laws are all witnesses.
i have pretty much rejected the holidays say for 25 years.

Althought I am still an 'active' JW, I know the truth about the truth. Regarding Holidays, I have taken my mum out to dinner on mother's day, althought she is a JW, she loved it. I don't think i will ever do Xmas, maybe just to please children and I do now buy some easter eggs for the kids but I never will celebrate it even if I fully left the WTS.
